The Divine Office

From Mount Angel Abbey and Seminary, Oregon:

Fr Jeremy Driscoll, OSB explains the Liturgy of the Hours. Composed of Psalms, canticles, antiphons and prayers, the Liturgy of the Hours finds its historical roots in the ancient and venerable prayer of the synagogue.

This is a lovely video; thank you for pointing us to it. It strikes me that one of the most truly monastic things in it is the guy who comes in, every phrase, about an eighth-to-a-quarter tone below the pitch the organ is giving and pulls the entire choir flat. Every time. And this is your brother. Who is going to do this at every liturgy. For the rest of your life.

Don't forget, though: he'll have vacation and Sabbath days and other things to do sometimes....

;-)

(I think it's probably more noticeable on the video than it is in the chapel.)
